After a rocky start here in horse and springs country (north of Tampa), we began our Sabbath headed off to another local church. We had planned to be 10-15 minutes early, but we couldn’t get ourselves together and wound up being only 5 minutes early, though to our surprise the service was already rocking and in full swing. Hope decided to come with us, so after checking Ben and Nora in for Sunday school, we made our way into a tiny, packed and surprisingly loud room for worship.
After about 15 minutes, Aaron turned to me and said quietly, “Did we make our way to the Pentecostals?” Let me tell you, it was a wild ride! Lots of shouting and jumping and praising, added together with a liberal dose of praying in tongues and going where the Spirit lead for the order of worship, and topped off with some no apologies preaching for stepping on toes (not to mention two hours of Hope struggling to process it all). Wild ride indeed. Ben and Nora LOVED the children’s church, which was engaging with karaoke style worship, games and wonderful teaching time. They are still begging us to go back next week, just as adamantly as Hope is crying for us not to!
After the unexpected marathon we all felt we’d just run, blood sugar levels were low and the kids began to crash. Sometimes there’s no shame in McDonald’s. It almost didn’t matter what we fed them, as long as it brought them back to their senses 😂.
We continued on to our planned afternoon destination with renewed greasy strength. Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. We had the most delightful time learning about Florida’s wildlife up close and personally. Next was a surprise stop for ice cream (except for Ben who doesn’t like ice cream… and really… who doesn’t like ice cream?!?! He walked across the parking lot it a Piggly wiggly for a candy bar!)
And to top it all off…. Super Bowl Sunday! We had lots of Super Bowl appetizers and enjoyed the mild weather for the game, while Ben held target practice with his nerf guns.
