Greetings everyone!
I tried to post yesterday about us being refugees, but there wasn't even enough internet bandwidth to get the post up. Since the water was frozen at the campground, we had moved to Shari's brothers house. But power eventually went out there and so we found some warm dry place to stay at Church Shari's brother works at. We spent the day there all of yesterday hoping that things would improve, but to this point, they have only gotten worse. The power is still not restored at the house, but beyond that, there is a bit of a logistics problem in the city now. There are any delivery trucks or gas trucks able to get stuff to stores/gas stations, so everything is in shortage. I tried to go to a Home Depot this morning, but it was closed due to no power. So I headed across the street to Lowe's, but there was a line around the building to get in.
All of the grocery stores have hours' long lines, and gas stations have cars lined up down the street to get in. People are comparing this to Hurricane Harvey that roared through here a few years ago, except instead of constant rain, we have constant ice and cold.
But just know that we are warm, safe, and ok for the time being. The kids have been playing the instruments on the stage and doing 'worship songs' for us, we've taken naps in dark corners of the room we are in... when internet is working, I'm able to work (somewhat) from the sound and light control platform at church.
This wasn't what the brochure said about Southeastern Texas!
Wow, sorry about the unexpected turn of events! At least you’re all safe and warm! We’ll be praying for you (and everyone else going through this, too)!
