Horses Horses Horses Horses

In Texas for a few months? What says Texas more than horseback riding lessons? The kids were all in, and so we found a beautiful stable a few miles south of us in Sugar Land.

What we didn’t realize is that we needed shoes with heels… so began our hunt for Cowboy boots, which are pretty much a necessity here. Though everyone told us that most stores sell them and we would have no trouble finding them, we struggled and surprisingly we found Ben’s at Target and the girls were procured at Walmart. Texans love their boots, and Target and Walmart answer the call. We found boots to be the best thing possible for fire ants, for easy on easy off, and of course for horseback riding.

As I watched Ben and Hope the first day on their horses, Lexus and Tigger respectively, I was jealous and asked the teacher if I could take lessons, too. I (and my money) was warmly welcomed, so weekly we drove down to the stables to learn about horse care and to ride them. We all learned so much and enjoyed every minute.

great experience kids being around the best of animals!!! They have shaped this country and have been through so much of American history. Best time is out on a horse! so peaceful. Glad to see Ben enjoying it too, cowboys and cowgirls in Texas!

What did the mother horse say to her foal? It's pasture bed time!
