“Happy birthday to you— happy birthday day to you! Happy birthday dear twinkies!! Happy birthday to you!” Our hearts are so full of love for these two images of God. They were thrilled to celebrate with a giant donut cake with their neighborhood friends before we left Michigan and got their second celebration in Florida complete with drinks at a tiki hut, a fancy dinner, gifts and swimming in our private pool!!
This week, even though we were parked at the same rv park in Punta Gorda, it felt like we were on vacation (from our vacation!). We spent our week at the lovely Airbnb that all the grandparents rented in Punta Gorda proper. First, let me just say how delightful it is to have grandparents who not only love us, but in fact love each other and vacation together! They way they pray for these kids and love them and pour wisdom into them is truly incredible!
We spent the week celebrating Ben and Nora (who, as of yet, haven’t complained about sharing a birthday!). Some highlights were reading tragic ballet stories at bedtime, Bible studies and math with grandparents in the mornings, trips to the parks, the Peace River Wildlife Sanctuary (a total gem!!), Fisherman’s Village for grouper sandwiches, fishing off the dock at our rental (Ben caught a beauty!!), Gulf beaches, and night swimming.
