The next grand adventure in our fifth wheel 'The Great Pretender' started on this past Monday (September 6, 2021). After an exhausting couple of days packing and fixing things in the rig up for the trip, we headed Southeast. Our first destination is a KOA camp in Streetsboro, OH, about an hour south of Cleveland. We picked this destination as our first stop for the week because it is so close to family. Much of Shari's extend family is from the Cuyahoga Falls/Akron/Canton area and so we wanted to get to see some of them while enroute to Maine. We drove for 3.5 hours from our home, arrived at camp to setup, and then headed to Uncle Carl and Aunt Leslee's house for a Labor Day cookout.
The following day, Aaron was luck enough to visit Discount Tire to take care of the tire issues that popped up on the short journey so far. One tire got a nail in it (though the tire was still holding pressure) and another tire got a slice in the tread that needed to be examined. After consulting with the tire experts, we decided to just put two new tires on the truck to give us the peace of mind that everything was ok. (the tires were due to be replaced at the end of this year, so this just moved that up on the schedule.
When Aaron arrived back to the campsite, he setup his mobile office so he could get back to the groove of working on the road. He has a new desk setup that will easily allow him to work inside or outside, though he definitely prefers outside! It is a quick setup and can be moved around to 'chase the shade'.
Shari and the kids headed to Cuyahoga Valley National Park to check out the visitor center and pick out some hikes to explore during the week. (There will be a separate post all about the National Park). Then they came home, spent a long time in the pool and ended the day with some ice cream and walking around the campground.
It does feel great to be back on the road. As with all things, the transitions are difficult. We need to find the rhythms of life on the road again so that we are able to maintain sanity, but that comes with time and effort. The effort is hard... but well worth with!!
Glad you are posting again on this trip! Thanks for sharing!
